Intermittent Blow-Down (IBD) Valve
This type of valve removes alkaline earths, phosphates or polyacrylates that may form a sludge at the bottom of the lowest boiler drum and can affect heat transfer. The Intermittent Blow-Down Valve is mostly a quick opening valve, utilizing spring aided levers. The frequency of operation depends on the quality of the feed water. Angle (Type 71), Y-Globe Type (50ST) and Straight Type Blow-down Valves (55BS) are available.
